I like it Dirty

Dark, Gritty, Artistic, Dramatic, Ruthless, Adult - all perfectly describe one of my favorite new TV shows. Dirt.

Now, sorry to sidestep from the actual point of this post, but a new great show like this couldn’t come at a more perfect time for me. The OC Officially Cancelled!

“Courteney Cox stars as Lucy Spiller, the hard-driving Editor-In-Chief of tabloid “Dirt” and “Now” magazines. (She also Executive Produces Dirt under the banner of production company Coquette, established by Courteney and her husband David Arquette.) Lucy has a maniacal dedication to finding the truth. With the help of Don Konkey (Ian Hart), a schizophrenic paparazzo blessed with a genius for getting the money shot, Lucy exposes the hidden truth behind celebrity lives – and also determines their fate.” - FX Dirt

This new show has gotten really mixed reviews. IMDB doesn’t have much info on the show, but instead a lot of users complaining about how Courteney Cox is miss cast (and I couldn’t disagree more.) I generally trust reviews on IMDB, but as it is referenced as “MoviePoopShoot.com” by Ben Affleck in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and I think you should take my word for it that this is a great show. All atcing aside (and the acting is great, and Courteney looks phenomenal also) the thing that really keeps my watching intently is the visualization. I really wish that FX was in HD because this show is beautiful. Every frame looks like a HDR - high dynamic range imaging for you non-photographers. It is really an interesting and different tv program in every way.

My favorite character in the show is strangely the schizo photog. It’s funy that he is the one that you sympathize with (although if not him I’m not sure who you would feel bad for). Poor guy hears voices, sees blood raining down on him, and thinks that the bad things he’s done with this job cause the cancer growing in his cat. Despite all of this he is rather light hearted, and fun to watch.

I won’t get much into the stories plot, it is up to you to watch and find out for yourself. It is nothing like any show I have ever seen, and I can’t wait to see more.
